Observations

Posted on Friday 26 June 2009

We’re in New England this week.

Among other things — I’d forgotten how incredibly slow dial-up is.  Once one has grown accustomed to broadband, it’s really difficult to make oneself sit down long enough for the pages to load.

(grrr)

Been a great trip, though, right up until yesterday afternoon — when I discovered that hiking half a mile out of the woods on a broken foot is hard to do.  (On the good news side, the emergency room people were impressed by how tough I am.)

So.  I’m coming back tomorrow night.  On crutches.

Can’t wait to navigate the airport with luggage.

Aawww! And you’re all alone, too!! :( No one to help tote all that luggage around, no one to commiserate with, no one with whom to share the load. Well, shuckeydurn! Should I arrange for an ambulance service upon your arrival back here at IAH? Aawww! :( :(

On a more serious note, are you going to tell us how you broke your foot? Were you hiking all alone? Were you running from a bear? Were you climbing a tree to try and get the best possible angle for a good photograph? WHAAT? Will this story subsequently be made into a movie? WHAAT?

Hiking out in the woods? You sure it wasn’t actually a trip to Argentina?

I kid, of course. Sorry about your foot!

@Michael — hahaha! I really REALLY need to come up with a better story for this. Just plain “I was out hiking” sounds kinda dumb.

I think I need a narrative along the lines suggested by Goldenrod. Something that includes bears.

On the good news side, though — I really love hiking in New Hampshire — Especially when I know the temperatures back at home are over 100 degrees. LOL!

Sorry to hear about the injury - but you do realize that kicking tree stumps out of the way really isn’t a good idea, right? ;-)
