Also -- although I'm posting The Coin's picks this year, my ego compels me to mention that Polimom's personal picks have me at 21-10; I'm currently at the top of my pool. Since the season's barely begun, that's pretty light data, but I've decided to mention where I differ from the coin in the commentary each week.
So, without further ado, here are this week’s flips*:
NY GIANTS (-13.5) over Cincinnati
The coin clearly has more faith in the Giants this week than Polimom. I went with Cincinnati; two full touchdowns is a LOT of spread.
Arizona (+3.5) over WASHINGTON
Another one where The Coin and Polimom part ways this week. Arizona’s 2-0 record implies more meat than is actually on the menu there, I think.
ATLANTA (-5.5) over Kansas City
CHICAGO (-3.5) over Tampa Bay
Carolina (+3.5) over MINNESOTA
Miami (+12.5) over NEW ENGLAND
Sorry, Coin, but I disagree here, too. Sometimes, there just aren’t enough points to even things out.
BUFFALO (-9.5) over Oakland
Yet again, I’m at odds w/ TGC. I think Oakland’s a better team than the points are allowing for.
Houston (+4.5) over TENNESSEE
Hahahahahahaha!!! (Sorry, but I had to laugh at The Coin here.)
SEATTLE (-9.5) over St. Louis
0-2 vs. 0-2, they both look pathetic, and there’s a two-score spread? I went with St. Louis.
New Orleans (+5.5) over DENVER
Smart coin!
SAN FRANCISCO (-4.5) over Detroit
Jacksonville (+5.5) over INDIANAPOLIS
Hunh? The Coin must have been getting dizzy at this point…
PHILADELPHIA (-3.5) over Pittsburgh
I have Pittsburgh, but I’m not at all convinced I’m smarter than The Coin on this one.
BALTIMORE (-2.5) over Cleveland
GREEN BAY (+2.5) over Dallas
This is a tough call. I also picked Green Bay, but I think Dallas looks very very good this year. Should be a great game…
SAN DIEGO (-8.5) over NY Jets
I disagree strongly with TGC. Evidently I have more faith in Brett Favre.
So there you have it. Clearly, either The Golden Coin or Polimom is about to have a very bad week…
