I had been saying all along that Hillary was getting a lot of support from those older conservative racist Democrats. I knew because I kept running into them and I even have some as relatives. I don't think there is much you can do about it. Changing long held beliefs takes a lot of work and time. Sometimes people will hurt themselves rather than admit they have been wrong for a long time. Unfortunately, many folks who would consider themselves hard-working, Christian, blue-collar, left-leaning, patriotic Americans are still susceptible to the malaise. And, in an era in which our politics is defined to a large extent by media exposure, and in which the media makes sure that the lunatic fringe gets more than its share of coverage (in large part because people <em>love</em> to see train wrecks), does it really surprise us all that much? ~EdT.
