A vile thought

Posted on Wednesday 23 January 2008

Dick Morris thinks that the Clintons are banking on white Democratic racism to rally voters to Hillary following a loss in South Carolina:

If Hillary loses South Carolina and the defeat serves to demonstrate Obama’s ability to attract a bloc vote among black Democrats, the message will go out loud and clear to white voters that this is a racial fight. It’s one thing for polls to show, as they now do, that Obama beats Hillary among African-Americans by better than 4-to-1 and Hillary carries whites by almost 2-to-1. But most people don’t read the fine print on the polls. But if blacks deliver South Carolina to Obama, everybody will know that they are bloc-voting. That will trigger a massive white backlash against Obama and will drive white voters to Hillary Clinton.

Jeesum, what a vile thought. I really want that to be wrong.

The Democrats have used and abused the black vote so many times. It is really kind of funny watching Obama pull the race card and the Clintons not knowing how to put it back in the deck.

“But if she is seen as being rejected by minority voters in favor of Obama after going hat in hand to them and trying to out-civil rights Obama, blacks will even likely feel guilty about rejecting Hillary and will be more than willing to support her in the general election.”
How about this: Black voters don’t feel guilty, they feel used. What if pissed off today leads to low voter turn-out in early November?

roux: Obama didn’t play the race card. From an earlier Dick Morris article:

“It does not matter which specific reference to race can be traced to whom. Obama’s campaign has resisted any temptation to campaign on race and, for an entire year, kept the issue off the front pages. Now, at the very moment that the crucial voting looms, the election is suddenly about race. Obviously, it is the Clintons’ doing. Remember the adage: Who benefits?”

Remember, Dick Morris was Bill Clinton’s political adviser in the 90s. If anyone knows how this couple thinks, it’s him. (He’s also really creepy.)

[…] Myself, I think it’s a fairly pathetic (and wholly transparent) attempt to kick off a new meme — one that supports the post-SC game plan outlined by Dick Morris. […]
