A buggy weekend

Posted on Monday 11 June 2007

With Adorable Child sick all weekend, Polimom was confined to the house and gardens. I ’bout went batty — or maybe the word is buggy:

Green on green (Lynx spider)
Lynx Spider

Then there was this totally bizarre looking orange thing:

It's an orange bug!
Assassin

That assassin bug was a real ham, too! Stood right up for the photographer… though he may have been giving me some subtle bug insult by turning his back:

Acceptance speech

Cheeky bug!

Hope your weekend went better than mine…

Nice bugs - May I ask what lens you are using? It does a good job with macros.

Hi Glenn — For these, I used the Sigma 70-300mm DG.

It’s a tricky beast at certain apertures, and I have to pay attention to what settings I’m using up close — particularly for birds. With (relatively) still subjects, though, it’s great. It has a “macro” setting that I can enable between 200 and 300mm, which allows me to approach within 3 feet or so of the subject.
