Live-blogging at the Chronicle

Posted on Tuesday 7 November 2006

For a (very) early-morning person like me, this isn’t the best of news:

WASHINGTON - Americans might head off to bed tonight without knowing the answer to the most compelling political question of the day: Who will control the Senate for the last two years of President Bush’s term?

Tight races, electronic voting machine glitches, partisan skirmishes over voter eligibility, a surge in absentee voting that will be counted late in some states, and possible legal challenges by losing candidates could conspire to keep the outcome unknown until Wednesday or later, experts said.

It’s not because I won’t be able to sleep without knowing the outcome of this national mud-fight; it’s because I’ll be free associating live-blogging… and it’ll be hard to find an end-point.

Chances are, I’ll just kind of fade away into incoherence — which doesn’t worry me nearly as much as people not being able to distinguish Poli-snooze-babble from my normal razor-sharp wit. (cough, cough)

However it plays out, though, you’ll find me tonight at Polimom Too — my old reader blog at the Houston Chronicle, where I’ll be making a cameo appearance with the other political fanatics reader bloggers.

I expect to kick that off shortly after dinnertime.

Come visit. Bring coffee.

Awww, c’mon Polimom, certainly you don’t need sleep! Just drink more coffee, and take a No-Doz (or 12.) That’ll keep ya awake, fer sure!

See what you wished upon me! It’s 1:22 in the morning, and it’s ALL YOUR FAULT!

I’m here to tell ya — 1 1/2 Heinekens do not over-ride 2 pots of coffee near fast enough.
